Community Programs

In 1974, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) established the CDBG program to develop viable urban communities, by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expand economic opportunities, primarily for persons of low to moderate income.The City of Baldwin Park recieves approximately $1.5 million annually in CDBG funds and $550,000 in HOME funds.Per HUD regulations, the project utilizing these funds must meet one of the following National Objectives:
Prevent or Eliminate Slum and Blight
Meet an Urgent need (imminent health and safety).
Benefit Low to Moderate-Income Neighborhoods and Persons.
